Gown Pick-Up & Return

All students participating in ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ graduation ceremonies must wear the provided black graduation gown and corresponding vee stole. NOTE: Gowns and Stoles must be returned following the ceremony, before leaving the venue.

Early grad gown pick-up will be available on campus in the Welding Classroom (First Floor, Room A1100) during the following times:

• Tuesday, June 18, 2024: 5 - 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, June 19, 2024: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
• Thursday, June 20, 2024: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
• Friday, June 21, 2024: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Souvenir Graduation caps will be available for purchase during early gown pick up times only. The cost is $5.00, and we accept cash, debit, or credit. NOTE: Souvenir caps will not be worn during the ceremony.

If you are unable to pick up your gown during the times listed above, it will be available one hour prior to the ceremony start time at the AYR Motor Center on Graduation Day.

Ceremony Arrival Time (at AYR Motor Center)

If you have picked up your gown in advance, please arrive no later than 45 minutes (9:15 a.m.) before the ceremony start time. Graduates who have not picked up their gown must arrive one hour (9 a.m.) before the ceremony start time. Please bring your student ID card.  

¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ Volunteers will be on hand to guide you. Once inside, you will be directed to a common area to line up. It is important to arrive on time to ensure you are seated with your program.

Name Card

A name card will be issued to each graduate during the line-up process. You must keep this card with you and hand it to the ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ staff member reading graduate names before you cross the stage.

Parking

Ample parking is available in the parking lot of the AYR Motor Center. Remember to factor in parking when planning your arrival time.

Guests

Invitations are not required for admission to Graduation. Guests will be directed to the seating area by staff and/or volunteers. 

Dress Code

Graduates are encouraged to dress in business-like attire for the ceremony. Gowns must remain zipped for the duration of the ceremony. Note: Souvenir grad caps will not be worn during the ceremony.

IMPORTANT:  Please leave personal belongings with your guests. There is not a secure place to leave them during the ceremony and you are not guaranteed to return to your same seat after crossing the stage.

Graduation is a major milestone, and we want every ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ graduate to have their moment to shine when crossing the stage. For this reason, we kindly ask that you return to the graduate seating area after receiving your official parchment and remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.

We also wish to remind you that guests are not permitted in the graduate seating area. If you plan to have children under the age of 16 in attendance, please ensure they are supervised by an adult guest during the ceremony.

Photo Opportunities

A photo booth will be available on-site for self-serve photo opportunities following the ceremony.

NOTE: Guests are not permitted on the main floor of the venue, there will be ample opportunity for photos following ceremonies.

There are three entrances to the Currie Center - please use the lower-level entrance and proceed to the 4th floor. Once inside, you will be directed to a common area to line up. It is important to arrive on time to ensure you are seated with your program.

Parking

Parking passes are not required for Graduation Day (June 24). Refer to the for details.  Remember to factor in parking when planning your arrival time. All campus entrances will be open.

Graduates will enter via side entrances #4 and #5 of the Avenir Centre (¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ volunteers will be on hand to direct you). Once inside, you will be greeted by staff, receive your name card, and be directed to a common area to line up.

Paid parking information for the Avenir Centre (150 Canada Street) is .  NOTE: Graduates who prefer to leave from the campus can take bus route number 51 (green line) to the Avenir Centre. If taking the bus, or parking downtown, remember to allow ample time when planning your arrival.

All graduates should be dressed and ready at the St. Andrews Campus by 8:15 a.m. on ceremony day.  Graduates who have not picked up their gown must arrive by 8 a.m. Please bring your student ID card.

NOTE:  A group photo will be taken outside the main entrance following the ceremony at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Graduates will enter via the main building entrance (volunteers will be on hand to guide you). Once inside, you will be directed to a common area to line up.  It is important to arrive on time to ensure you are seated with your program.

Students are full partners in the learning process and the central focus of all campus activities. This award is for a current student who has made an exceptional leadership contribution within an ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ campus and the communities they serve. One (1) award per Academic School.

The Governor General’s Academic Medals recognize the outstanding scholastic achievements of students across Canada. The Collegiate Bronze Medal is awarded to the student who has the highest overall average upon graduation from approved college and university programs. One (1) award per Academic School.

The Highest Academic Standing in a Program award recognizes the student in each program who has successfully completed and achieved the highest academic standing within the program. The award recipient must have achieved an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. One (1) award per program per campus.

Students who have successfully completed all requirements for graduation and have attained the required overall 3.5 grade point average will receive the designation of Honours. Students who achieve ‘Honours Status’ will be recognized with an honours cord to be worn during their graduation ceremony.

Students who served in a leadership role with the ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ Student Union will be recognized with a white cord to be worn during their graduation ceremony.

The ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ Student Union is offering up to 50 $250 graduation bursaries to deserving June 2024 graduates. To be eligible for these bursaries, students must be a member of the ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ Class of 2024 and have made significant contributions to their local or provincial Student Unions and the larger College community during their time at ¾Ã¾ÃÊÓƵ.
